Aluminium profiles are used in vast numbers of manufacturing and construction projects all over the world.

These profiles are made using a unique process known as aluminium extrusion.

Aluminium extrusion is a specialised method that is relied upon by industries around the globe. profiles can be made using existing standard dies to produce profiles such as round tubes, flat bars and angles used in dozens of countries or they can be customised with bespoke tooling to meet the needs of specific clients.

How does the extrusion process work?

Aluminium profiles are either solid shapes or have a complex network of cross sections at their centre.
They are used in dozens of industries and are used as parts in a massively diverse range of products. Aluminium is soft and malleable so it lends itself beautifully to the extrusion process. First, the aluminium is heated to 350–500°C.

It is then forced through a specially cast steel die using a high-pressure ram or hydraulic press. As the semi-molten aluminium passes through the die it takes on it’s unique shape a bit like squeezing playdough.
